2015 K&E Year In Review

Goodbye 2015…

HOLY SMOKES! Is it really end of the year already? I think I blinked or something. It all seems like a dream, a very busy, love filled, crazy awesome, dream. The last year has been such an inspiration to us. We have really found who we are as a team and continually have to thank the people who got us here. I am so proud of where K&E Imaging has gone and where we’re about to go. We wanted to share bits and pieces of our life from the last year and some of the highlights we can’t seem to stop talking about.

Along with all the little sessions we did, there were some AMAZING weddings we were so lucky to capture this year. Adam + Jessie, Hadija + Blaine, Cassie + Matt, Brie + Dave, and Selena + Sean. Thank you to all our amazing couples who invited us into their lives and were so welcoming. We feel like family and we are so happy for all of you!

This year felt like a very busy one, not only were our wedding clients getting bigger and better weddings, but we also wanted to say I Do! So… We did!

We Got Married!!

We said “I Do” on August 22nd with all of our family and friends. Thanks to our amazing team of people and vendors who made our dreams come to life. Just to name a few : Blue Devil Golf Course, Dana Cole Photography, Dee Vine Petals, Love Sky Designs, Durand Bridal, Bonnie Inglis, The Bridal Centre, Peoples Jewelry, and of course our bridal party and our parents and grandparents for being our financial support and emotional support through this journey. One of the questions everyone asks us is “how is married life?” and to be honest? Nothing has changed! We’re still the crazy couple that does almost everything together with our pup Toffee and we’re full steam ahead to enjoying our lives together.
There’s only a couple things I would change about our wedding day is to make it longer… Jeesh, they aren’t kidding when they say it flies by. To hire a videographer to capture our awesome slideshow musical number. And I’d hug everyone a little tighter and a little longer.

We’ve Been Published!

Oh yeah! Just a few weeks ago we headed out to the launch of Luxe by Calgary Bride at Hotel Arts. It was an amazing night for our industry. So many amazing photo shoots came together to make this magazine what it is. If you haven’t gotten your copy be sure to head out to any location that sells Magazines 🙂
Our shoot in particular was really quite interesting. Dana Heald from Dee Vine Petals talked with us about doing a Frozen Flower wedding inspiration shoot. We wanted to make things look cold and icy in a location that was warm and summery… We chose the conservatory inside the Calgary Zoo… Definitely warm and summer in there. We had the ice centerpiece up there for a couple hours and it had soaked through the table cloths!! Brides probably not the best idea for your hot summer wedding… haha! Everything else smoothly fell into place with Boutiq Weddings & Events at our sides. She perfectly laid out the table setting and truly truly made it beautiful. To top everything off we had stunning stationary from our good friend Kelly at Love Sky Design (If you’re planning an event and need escort cards, menus, invitations, and anything else you can think of you NEED to see this girl)
Anywho! Go get your copy! RIGHT NOW! or after you’re done reading this blog post.

What Else Happened?

I honestly didn’t expect to write this much in this blog post… If you’ve gotten this far good for you! and you deserve a cookie.
Other than all our amazing sessions, weddings, etc… We had some fun of our own. I did the whole bridal shower thing in my moms backyard, we had a stag and doe for our bachelor and bachelorette party (we’re not really party people) we hit over 100,000 K on my car, did some voice acting for video games, attended an awesome wedding summit, and made so many more new friends. We also shipped of to Mexico for a mini honey moon (our 2nd honeymoon is in April so I pre-apologize for the inconvenience anyone…) Los Cabos Mexico was incredible. It was blistering hot, the hotel was practically empty, we’ve never done an all inclusive before, and I don’t think I’ve ever eaten that much in my life…

Other than that I will leave these photos to tell more of the stories 🙂 I hope you enjoy

Selena + Sean Wedding!

Selena + Sean

A family oriented, thanksgiving monday, breakfast for dinner, kind of wedding.

I don’t know about you, but they had me at breakfast for dinner. Selena and Sean’s wedding day was so beautiful and welcoming. From the moment you walk in the door you immediately feel like family. Everyone was smiling as they rushed around in the morning. There were so many things that stood out at their wedding. Selena had the whole rhyme put together ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe.’ I haven’t heard of the sixpence before but it was really interesting! ‘A silver sixpence in the bride’s shoe is a traditional good luck wedding gesture and customarily, it is the father of the bride who places the sixpence as a symbol of him wishing her prosperity, love and happiness in her marriage.’ So brides that are keeping to tradition look no further!

The rest of the day went by incredibly smoothly thanks to the team at Lynn Fletcher Wedding, The ceremony took place at the First Mennonite Church, close to Mardaloop. The inside was so stunning, built like churches used to be. The processional was lead by their family members, sisters, brothers followed by the entrance of Sean and his Best man, his Father, and soon walked down their Maid of Honor, Selena’s Mom. This was so touching that the people who raised them would be the ones to stand up  next to them as they said I do. Such a unique wedding idea! Not only that but their grandmothers were the flower girls. I LOVED that idea! Selena walked down the isle with her father to the tune of ‘A night to remember’ sung by their friends in a band called Two Bit Bandits. You’ll hear more about them later. The ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt with many laughs and giggles. The moment that had everyone going was when Selena leaned into Sean’s microphone on his lapel to say “I do” the way she smiled back at the guests made everyone give a good belly laugh. By the end of the ceremony everyone had their share of tears and laughs they sauntered out and came back in to do their receiving line, they walked up to everyone afterwards they all said their congratulations and away we go!

The reception was held at Aloft Hotels, if you haven’t been here I strongly suggest you check it out! It is incredibly modern in there. The pool room is where the party started! Speeches left everyone in tears, after the bride and groom gave their wedding speech everyone did a shot! Of CEREAL! That’s something I’ve never seen or heard of before, but when you have breakfast for dinner what better way to kick off break-inner…? no? I’ll try harder next time.

Music was lead by their friends band The Two Bit Bandits, they were so awesome! They kept the party alive and jigging all night long! I strongly recommend you check them out for your wedding or next party 🙂

We said goodbye to the newlyweds on their wedding day and on the way home we talked about how great the day was, how wonderful everyone had been. I was smiling the whole time when I was editing their wedding photos. I’m so happy they have them now and can relive their day over and over again.

Erika + Joe Baby Announcement!

Baby Announcement + 3rd Year Anniversary

After meeting Erika + Joe just last year we knew right away that we were going to be friends! These two are so incredibly interesting and always bring something new to us to do for their photoshoots. We were absolutely tickled pink when they asked us to do another anniversary shoot. Then she dropped the bomb of HAVING A BABY! I couldn’t be happier for the two of them on such an amazing journey. I have loved getting updates about the baby’s growth and ideas for names. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this baby will be, he or she has the most amazing loving parents.

Hooey, ok enough of the mushy stuff I think I have something in my eye… The idea for the shoot was all Erika, first location was a farm in Cochrane with all of their dogs! I know from experience that one dog is enough to handle for photos but three dogs! Thankfully these guys were incredibly well behaved and my favourite call back for one of them is “Skywalker” haha! After playing around with the dogs we had the chance to hang out with some pretty awesome horses, they were incredibly tame and very funny to work with 🙂 I can’t wait to do something like that again! We took a short break and headed to Cobb’s Corn Maze just off of 16th Avenue. Although it was pretty chilly that day we didn’t think it would be cold enough to close down a fun park… Sadly we had to re-plan the pumpkin picking for another day.

Round 2! We headed to the Corn Maze again a couple weeks later and had an absolute blast! They picked their plumpy pumpkins and picked out the guts and did some carving! It was really adorable watching these two make designs and carve them out. Next it was time to get a little lost. I have never been in a corn maze and can honestly get lost pretty quickly… There’s no google map to get me out of there… It was so much fun playing in the corn and it turned into some amazing shots.

I was so excited to see their baby announcement the other day and I’m so happy I can finally share more of the photos here on K&E Imaging. Can’t wait to meet the little peanut Erika + Joe!

Another big thank you to Emilia Art Makeup for doing an amazing job
